A. THE CONVERSATIONS
Obviously, any conversations take place are naturally the dialogues between two or more people. However, when it comes to the listening section of TOEFL iBT test, there are only two people talking where one person is always a student and the other one may be another university peer, a professor, a teaching assistant, a librarian, a campus administrator, and so on. In other words, these conversations as you listen to the recording audio often take place in a learning environment such as campus, classroom building, or lecturers’ office, whereby they frequently deal with situations related to the university life (mostly, dealing with solving a problem that one or two people is having).

Here is the example of the listening photograph during the conversations’ talk.

B. THE LECTURES
Unlike the conversations talk, the lectures talk on the other hand specifically take place in a classroom and they are usually delivered by a professor. Such lectures in the listening section of this TOEFL iBT test may be monologues (one speaker) or academic discussions involving the professor and a few number of college students. Additionally, the topics discussed involve a wide variety of academic subjects (anthropology, history, biology, chemistry, etc), as the talks can last from five up to six minutes long (roughly around 500 to 800 words).
